CADA's NextGen Youth Program is seeking youth between the ages of 16-24 years old living in Halifax and Northampton County. Early Head Start/Head Start Opening Positions

Custodian 42 weeks-Entry:  $10.27

Knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions, and ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.  Must have a NC Driver's License and acceptable driving record. Must meet licensure requirements to work at a Head Start Center. Ability to read and understand product labels.  Criminal Record Check and Health certificate required.

Child Development Teacher 42 weeks- Entry: $11.90

Must possess one of the following credentials: Graduate of a four year college with major in Child development / Early Childhood Education is desirable. Associate Degree in Children Development, Child Development Associate Credential (NAEYC) or California Pre – School Certificate. Working knowledge of good health practices. Considerable knowledge of child growth and development and planning programs to appropriately meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of children. Ability to establish rapport with children and their parents in order to obtain information concerning needs of individual children. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports. Ability to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions. Experience in working with pre – school children in a nursery school kindergarten, or day care facility.

Teacher Assistant/ Bus Monitor 42 weeks -Entry $10.27

Some experience in working with pre – school children in a nursery school, kindergarten or day care facility. Completion of the 12th grade or high school equivalent. One of the following is desired: A.A. Degree in Child Development, Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), and Early Childhood Associate Degree. Interest in and some knowledge and understanding of the needs and problems of low income or disadvantaged persons and of the community environment. Some knowledge of child growth and development theories and principles. Personal traits of warmth, sensitivity and caring toward children and families are required.

Bus Monitor 42 weeks-Entry $9.32

Some experience in working with pre-school children.  Interest in and some knowledge and understanding of the needs and problems of low income or disadvantaged persons and of the community environment.  Ability to read, write and to communicate effectively.  Personal traits of warmth, sensitivity, and caring toward children and families are required.  Possess a First Aid and infant and child CPR certificate (ARC) is preferred, or required within six (6) weeks of employment.  A valid N.C. Driver's License is preferred.

Early Head Start Teachers 48 weeks-Entry $11.90

 A four year degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; Associate Degree in Early       Childhood     Education; or Infant/Toddler CDA with some training in public health.  CNA I and II is preferred.  Knowledge of child growth and development; best health practices; and programs to appropriately meet the physical, mental and social needs of children.  Ability to plan appropriate activities and procure supplies and equipment.  Good judgment and good record keeping are required.  Must obtain a Certified Criminal Record check, a valid health certificate from Health Department, training in safety issues (e.g., reducing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and a valid NC Driver's License.  Person must be fluent in the language spoken by the majority of the families served by the program.

Family Service Specialist 42 weeks-Entry $11.34

Associate Degree in Social Work or Human Services or four-year degree in a related field;  (CNA) I or II is preferred.  Experience and knowledge of child and family development. Ability to communicate in conversational Spanish is preferred.  Must have a valid North Carolina Driver's License and general knowledge of community agencies and resources.  Must be able to communicate effectively and to handle multiple tasks. Will interact with at risk low-income families and interpret their needs to community agencies.   Data entry skills to compile client reports and follow-up activities.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program personnel, as well as staff in community agencies.  Must posses a valid health examination (TB test and physical) issued by a licensed physician or the County Health Department and obtain a Certified Criminal Record Check Report.
