Choanoke Area Development Association of NC, Inc., (CADA) is seeking qualified

Applicants for the following positions

Child Development Teachers 42 week – Entry: $11.69

Must possess one of the following credentials:  Graduate of a four year college with major in Child development / Early Childhood Education is desirable.  Associate Degree in Children Development, Child Development Associate Credential (NAEYC) or California Pre – School Certificate.  Working knowledge of good health practices.  Considerable knowledge of child growth and development and planning programs to appropriately meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of children.  Ability to establish rapport with children and their parents in order to obtain information concerning needs of individual children.  Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports.  Ability to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions.  Experience in working with pre – school children in a nursery school kindergarten, or day care facility. 

Head Start Teacher Assistants 42 week - Entry $9.61

Some experience in working with pre – school children in a nursery school, kindergarten or day care facility.  Completion of the 12th grade or high school equivalent.  One of the following is desired:  A.A. Degree in Child Development, Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), and Early Childhood Associate Degree.  Interest in and some knowledge and understanding of the needs and problems of low income or disadvantaged persons and of the community environment.  Some knowledge of child growth and development theories and principles.  Personal traits of warmth, sensitivity and caring toward children and families are required.

Early Head Start Teachers 42 week-Entry $11.69

A four year degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education; or Infant/Toddler CDA with some training in public health.  CNA I and II is preferred.  Knowledge of child growth and development; best health practices; and programs to appropriately meet the physical, mental and social needs of children.  Ability to plan appropriate activities and procure supplies and equipment.  Good judgment and good record keeping are required.  Must obtain a Certified Criminal Record check, a valid health certificate from Health Department, training in safety issues (e.g., reducing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and a valid NC Drivers License.  Person must be fluent in the language spoken by the majority of the families served by the program.

Family Services Specialists 42 week-Entry $11.14

Must possess one of the following credentials: Graduate of a four year college with major in Child Development I Early Childhood Education is desirable. Associate Degree in Children Development , Child Development Associate Credential  (NAEYC) or California Pre - School Certificate. Working knowledge of good health practices. Considerable knowledge of child growth and development and planning programs to appropriately meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of children.  Ability to establish rapport with children and their parents in order

to obtain information concerning needs of individual children. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports. Ability to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making

decisions. Experience in working with pre - school children in a nursery school kindergarten, or day care facility. Possession of a valid health certificate issued by the County Health Department.

Family Service Site Manager 48 week-Entry $14.91

Degree or extensive course work in Early Childhood / Child and Family Development or a combination of education preparedness and / or equivalent work experience is required.  Must have basis knowledge of data entry procedures and good computer technology experience.  Must be able to communicate effectively, maintain accurate records and client services documentation.  Must be able to work independently and possess good mid - management skills.  Must possess the ability to interact effectively with at low risk low-income families and interpret their needs to community agencies.  Ability to communicate in a positive manner with unemployed, underemployed clients, employment agencies, business, and industries. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program personnel, as well as staff in community agencies.  Possess a valid health certificate issued by the county Health Department or private physician and obtain a Certified Criminal record Check Report.

 Custodian 44/48 week – 1 Position Halifax Co.  Entry:  $9.37

Knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions, and ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.  Must have a NC Driver's License and acceptable driving record.  Must meet licensure requirements to work at a Head Start Center. Ability to read and understand product labels.  Criminal Record Check and Health certificate required.

 

Teacher Assistant Bus Monitor 42 week - 1 Position Halifax Co.  1 Position Hertford Co.,  3 Position Northampton Co.  Entry $9.37.

Nutrition Consultant-Click on Link Here for Job Descriptions

CADA seeks to contract with a Certified Nutritionist Specialist with Health Care experience to provide services for the Head Start/ Early Head Start program. Services include assistance with nutrition/food services; Conducting nutrition assessments; collaborating with food service staff; assisting with planning menus to meet USDA guidelines, and providing nutrition education for children, families and staff.  Approximately 10 hours per month.
